New York Times Elite's

This New York Times was more than a little eye opening. I believe the downfall of the Ugarit and Mycenae societies absolutely depicts what happens when the elites or 1% get greedy and force their will upon the common citizens. For example, the article refers to "forced labor". That is slavery, plain and simple. When the article discusses how kings essentially made the lower class feel their wrath during tough times, it does kind of remind me of the world we are in today.

Unfortunately we are in not only a pandemic, but an era in which African Americans and other minorities are racially profiled and murdered in cold blood by "police officers". Now I know there are good cops out there who try and do their best, but clearly there are also bad cops who don't deserve a badge, power and firearm. The young man who was just killed via an officers knee to his neck is an example of this injustice. When will enough be enough? The article states that it is very possible that the lower class citizens of Ugarit and Mycenae were the ones to burn their societies to the ground. I hate to say this but between police brutality and being forced to stay home while statistics are controversial is causing an uproar among American citizens. I unfortunately think we are in a time that society feels actions will speak louder than words. This can be very dangerous and I hope that the world can get through this time safely.

In terms of the elites or 1%, at some point a power shift or a balancing act needs to happen. Small businesses are suffering tremendously right now and small businesses are the America I know. Being able to have the freedom and liberty in this country is the American I know. I am not condoning breaking shelter in place or violence, but simply put, the political leaders of the world have dropped the ball and have been doing a shitty job for the citizens around the world at this time. I hope to see improvement and real progress because I will admit that I am slowly losing faith in those who have the most power. When an entire country loses faith in those with power, that is where I think history may unfortunately repeat itself.

  1. Commenting a bit about last week's tragedy. Have you seen everything that is happening? This can happen to anyone. Fear is causing many people to respond. That happens when we no longer have anything to lose. I hope there are no more deaths.
    Thanks for sharing!
