Timeline
While researching the topic of the timeline of the early human era's, I came across a cool website which gave brief breakdowns some of the major era's. This was nice to give some more insight to these era's before diving into the three additional eras. The paleolithic era was also known as the "old stone age". During this era there was evidence of the first signs of technology, stone tools. This then led into the neolithic era which is referred to as the "new stone age". Getting into the end of the paleolithic era and the beginning of the neolithic era brought along things like agriculture and domestication of animals. It seemed to me this site had listed the antiquity era as the ancient era. During the ancient era, this is when Roman civilization saw many changes. Rome went from the Roman Republic to the Roman Empire after Julius Caesar's murder. Earlier in the ancient era Julius Caesar conquered Gaul, along with a number of other provinces. It seems that next came the classical era, and from what I personally remember from prior classes, is that the classical era saw heavy influences of arts and literature. The final era is the modern era in which we saw major demographic growth, mass education, wars and so much more. ( https://www.inrap.fr/en/periods )
The cosmic era was not the easiest to find information on. I was able to find some interesting information in our textbook which refers to the cosmic calendar. The firs few events really jump out to me. The big bang and galaxies forming, are what I would consider the cosmic era and I kind of view this as the beginning of life on earth.
The gaiac era is something I couldn't find on google or in the textbook. I tried multiple different spellings with no luck. The only thing I found relatively close to the"gaiac" era, is the Ice Age or glacial era. During the ice age the world saw temperatures which lowered annually, creating a constant winter season for thousands of years. This era was followed by a warming Midieval Era. The Ecozoic era was something brought to light by Thomas Berry. This era was about the preservation of earth. This is an era that I think we are still in to this current day. Things like global warming and pollution have taken a huge toll on the ecosystem and the natural habitat of earth, and we are seeing more activists than ever who are fighting to preserve our beautiful planet. Below I will list the order of the 8 Era's , which I believe make the most sense to me personally.
1. Cosmic Era- I believe this is the era in which our beautiful earth was created. I think this era took place before any form of life was on earth. (4 billion-13 billion years ago)
2. Paleolithic Era- I believe this is the era we saw the first humans and how they adapted to the world. (about 8000 BC)
3. Neolithic Era- I believe this era happened shortly after the paleolithic era and I believe this era was key in the beginning of technological advances. (about 6000-2200 BC)
4. The Ice Age/Glacier Era- I believe this era occurred next, although I acknowledge this may not be correct. I think the Ice Age happened next and mother nature displayed her wrath very early on. (about 1800 BC)
5. Ancient Era- This is the era I believed followed the Ice Age. After the ice age we saw a warming period, and I think with the whether heating up and the people of the world becoming more innovative, we see the ancient era take major strides. (about 100 BC)
6. Classical Era- I believe as the world took major innovative strides, technology advanced as well as the arts. This is a time we were able to see major enrichment of music, theater, literature and all arts. (about 8 BC?)
7. Modern Era- This era I believe to be the most significant. Although things like mass education and growing demographics are fantastic for the world, we also saw war. Since war was a pretty new tactic to the world, I believe this is the era the world saw a shift in power via politics and financials. (about the 1700's)
8. Ecozoic Era- Finally the ecozoic era. I believe I can relate most to this era and the ancient eras. The ecozoic era really speaks volumes to society today in my opinion and this is why I have it as the final era on my list. (Present era)
