Reflection on the State of Our Nation
What a year 2020 has been! As we approach 4th of July weekend, I wouldn't have ever thought a year like this would take place in my lifetime. That being said, learning about how the world come to be to this very day, has been completely amazing. To learn about the Sea Roads, and to think of how cargo ships today, pretty much do the same thing of transporting traded or sold goods, its astonishing. The Sea Roads not only connected the world, but they may have saved the world in a way. Regions with different climates would not have had access to certain resources without those Sea and Silk Roads. Learning how Venice, Italy became a hub for trade, it resembled the port cities of the United States today such as San Francisco, Portland, Oregon and Portland, Maine. The Sea Roads connected Asia with Europe and Africa which was a groundbreaking development. Now today, we get to enjoy the fruits the Sea Roads brought in terms of innovation and connecting the entire world via Sea trade routes.
I cannot think of July 4th without thinking of what we learned about Britain and the European powers. Britain was power hungry and boy did they try to make sure they had a hand in every single country. We also learned how the Europeans came over to the America's and took control of the Native Americans who were already living here. These are perfect examples of the greed from these powerful Europeans, and it makes me truly grateful those brave soldiers before us fought and won our independence, which we still somewhat had before this pandemic.
